Dubai as a Global Trade Hub Interview on Business-Channel.tv: Meet the CEO

The Amsterdam Business Awards 2025, organized by Ursula van Zantvliet Rozemeijer and her team at MeerBusiness Amsterdam, took place recently and brought together prominent figures from the business world to celebrate outstanding entrepreneurial achievements in the region.

This year’s spotlight was on three exceptional companies:

  • OGÉR – A leading name in high-end men’s fashion, renowned for blending timeless elegance with modern style.
  • MIJKSENAAR – Experts in wayfinding and design, delivering innovative solutions for complex environments such as airports and hospitals.
  • Holie’s Food – Winner of the first prize, this dynamic and fast-growing company is making waves with its commitment to sustainable and healthy food that benefits both people and the planet.

While the evening was marked by celebration, powerful networking, and inspiring entrepreneurial stories, a sobering undertone shaped the discussions throughout the event. A presentation from Rabobank highlighted concerning economic figures: the Dutch economy is experiencing minimal growth at just 0.2%, with Amsterdam alone contributing a 2.2% growth rate—an indicator that the broader national economy may be on the brink of recession without the capital’s performance.

The challenges facing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) were a recurring theme in both stage discussions and private conversations. Many SMEs are currently grappling with survival, facing financial pressures and a system that increasingly favors investors over entrepreneurs. These concerns were echoed by representatives of multinational companies, politicians, and SME business owners alike.

The event served not only as a celebration of business excellence but also as a crucial reminder of the need to support and sustain the SME sector—often described as the backbone of the Dutch economy, responsible for a significant share of employment and community well-being.

The evening was a compelling blend of recognition and reflection—honoring visionary businesses while also drawing attention to the economic challenges that demand urgent dialogue and collective action.
